Sereide

Captain of the Scarlet Tithe

  •   name    Sereide

  •   age    Appears late mid 30's

  •   pronouns    she/her.

  •   sexuality    Inquire if you dare

  •   birthplace    Unknown

  •   residence    The frigate, the Scarlet Tithe

  •   job(s)    Pirate captain, Tyrant Commander

personality   Arrogance exudes from the tyrannical, savage and bloodthirsty Captain's swagger. From the cocky turn of her chin, to the way she bullies her way right through people instead of moving politely around them; to the way she takes up near an entire bench when she sits with arms spread wide across the back and one leg propped over the other, Sereide takes up more than her fair share in the world, and in more than one way.She speaks loudly and with authority, whether aboard the Tithe or aground - and any of her crew are sure to hop to quickly. She laughs often, a wild, throaty cackle that may be a bit unnerving to some in it's utter freedom.Rest assured, Sereide is a force to be reckoned with and in her wake, always leaves the remains of a tempest sea.

  •   height    five fulms, eight ilms.

  •   weight    one hundred and forty-five ponze.

  •   eyes    arresting sea blue.

  •   hair    neat dark brown dreads

  •   scars    many and varied

  •   languages    several, thus far the crew hasn't seen her come up against one she hasn't known

appearance   Sereide is a voluptuous woman with a bosom pretty as a masthead, round hips from which hang a sharp cutlass, a pair of flintlocks, a curious shark-tooth dagger - and any number of other daggers, dirks and blades over the rest of her solid frame. She wears her dark brown hair in clean, neat dreads under her worn leather feathered tricorne, her skin is warm brown with a smattering of freckles and her eyes are startlingly bright blue, blue as the sea on a fine sailing day. She attires herself in close-fitted, short-sleeve shirts, vests and sleeveless coats, and bandoliers, with snug pants and boots to the thigh.

likes
the scarlet tithe, sailing, sea battles, fighting, watching fights, drinking, rum, treasure, gil, sex, running down deserters, her cat o'nine, glory, raiding and murdering maelstrom officers
dislikes
boredom, when other ships escape her wrath, dull fights, when her crew dies (it's so much work to recruit more), other grand companies, getting turned down for sex, short and anticlimactic fights

history

The Captain's origins herself are shrouded in mystery. She appeared on a dock one day, aged in her young 20's, and started presenting her Articles of Agreement to those who looked to be worthy crew who wouldn't mind slaughtering the law. She proved to be a solid captain of a frigate she called the Scarlet Tithe - and to those who changed their minds or deserted? Well... no one really ever heard of what happened to them, oddly. If questioned about her past, she aims a sharp-toothed grin, a wink, and gives one of a thousand stories, mundane or whimsical, that she's told over the years. Who knows which, if any, are true? If one questions the crew about her, they tend to either change the subject or become tight-lipped and cagey; it is abundantly clear to whom their loyalty lies. The Scarlet Tithe was first heard to have harried the Rhotano Sea about ten years back. She started small, taking sloops and merchant vessels with Maelstrom officers aboard for protection, but her hunger for more grew quickly. Her appetite evolved, she aimed now for larger ships such as the two-masted brigantines and heavily armed galleons. The ships themselves were never taken, always looted for every bit of plunder, then sunk to the bottom of the sea, every man alive put to death. Curiously, the Captain seemed to have a soft spot for women and children aboard (which was rare, bad luck, y'know), who were always deposited unharmed at the nearest port. Any of these who were questioned spoke of bewildering civility granted to them, but rough manners amongst the Captain and crew themselves - although none of them dared brook an order given.
